Indian Railways (IR) have set themselves 1,285 million ton freight loading target for the financial year 2019-20.
The 19-20 target is higher by 62 million tons, or 5% of the actual freight loaded in 2018-19. Loading in 2018-19 was 1,223 million tons, exceeding the year’s target of 1,218 million tons.
Two zones; East Coast Railway (ECoR) and South East Central Railway (SECR) are expected to contribute significantly to this figure. 202 million tons and 194 million tons respectively have been set as their zonal targets for the year.
