Miraj -Londa doubling by 2021, a year earlier: MoSR Suresh Angadi

The target date of completion of doubling the Miraj-Londa section of South Western Railway has been advanced from 2022 to 2021.

A statement issued by SWR, said the Minister of State for Railways Suresh C Angadi advised the railway officials of SWR to speed up the Miraj -Londa doubling works in a meeting held in Hubballi on Saturday.

The minister also instructed that the SWR construction organisation and RVNL should plan to complete doubling between Desur and Sambre and the new station building of Belagavi station be ready within a year. 

Ajay Kumar Singh GM – SWR sought the Minister’s help for arranging sleepers through Railway Board for timely completion of infrastructure works which he acceded to and directed the Railway Board to do so.

Vishwamanava express extended to Belagavi

The Minister announced extension of train No.17325/17326 Ashokapuram (Mysuru) – Hubballi – Ashokapuram (Mysuru) Vishwamanava upto Belagavi Railway station effective November 1, 2019.

He also said that train No. 06526/06525 Belagavi-KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi Tatkal Special will be made a regular train with LHB coaches starting November 1.

Also on the anvil is the construction of a coaching depot to enable starting of originating trains at Belagavi, the minister added.

New station building at Belagavi

The Minister said that a swanky new station building will be built at Belagavi for Rs 14 crore. It will contain airport like amenities such as concourse for free movement of passengers,

modern booking counters, executive lounge, waiting hall for men and women, food court, retiring room and dormitory.

Other issues

Other issues discussed included early commissioning of Baiyappannahali third terminal by Mar 2020 to ease congestion at Bengaluru area;revision of timings of  recently introduced Vijayapura – Yesvantpur train and Vaso-da-gama – Belagavi train to suit passenger convenience.

He instructed SWR officials to talk to Central Railway and resume services of the cancelled Miraj-Pandharpur leg of the Yesvantpur – Pandharpur train.

He asked SWR to study whether the frequency of Hubballi-Varanasi express could be inceased to four days a week besides checking on the possibility of sending a proposal to run a Rajdhani via Hubballi and Belagavi.

Hon’ble MoSR asked SWR officials to look into the feasibility of increasing the frequency of Hubballi-Varanasi train express to 4 days a week.  Hon’ble MoSR also instructed Railway officials to check the possibility of sending a proposal to run a  Rajdhani train to New Delhi via Hubballi and Belagavi .

Extra Coaches

Train No. 06525/06526 KSR Bengaluru – Belagavi – KSR Bengaluru Express will be augmented with one AC 3-tier Coach and one second class sleeper coach from October 26 to October 30 towards Bengaluru and from October 27 to 31 towards Belagavi for clearing the Deepavali rush.

Trains restored

Effective October 27, train No. 51461 Miraj – Belagavi Passenger which was cancelled earlier from Miraj from 21.10.2019 to 31.12.2019 will be restored. Also restored would be train No. 51464 Belagavi – Miraj Passenger which was cancelled earlier from Belagavi from 21.10.2019 to 31.12.2019.
