NCR: Railways to Reimburse Bills of OPD Medicine to Serving and Retired Employees till 30th April

 Railways to reimburse Bills of OPD medicine procured from market to Serving and retired Railway Employees till 30.04.20

Indian Railways, the biggest transport utility of the country, has been taking a series of proactive measures to fight COVID-19 pandemic besides sustained efforts to run goods and parcel trains to ensure adequate supply of essential commodities across the length and breadth of the nation. North Central Railway one of the most important Zonal Railway providing connectivity between North to East, West and South has been on the forefront in this unprecedented endeavor of Indian Railways against Corona Virus.

Following steps/initiatives taken on North Central Railway were reviewed by GM NCR & NR Sri Rajiv Chaudhry in video conference on 01.04.20

1.       For minimising routine visit to hospital and to avoid any hardship to serving and retired employees during the lockdown, Railway Board has authorized that all employees can buy their monthly OPD medicines ( like  BP, Sugar, Neuro/Cardio etc.) from the  local medical shops and can get the amount reimbursed after producing the bill. This benefit shall be available till 30th April ’20 and shall be applicable to retired Railway employees also covered under RELHS.

2.       To sustain essential services and other efforts against COVID-19, Railways is maintaining very strict hygiene and social distancing protocol. Availability of sanitizers, mask, soap, cotton towel (Gamcha) etc is being ensured among essential category staff through inhouse as well as sourcing from the market . Following inputs have already been given to cover all our frontline staff and supervisors:

3.       Coverall sample as part of PPE made by Northern Railway Jagadri workshop is being sent to DRDO Gwalior on 02.04.20 for testing, if found suitable for use as PPE for medical personnel, bulk production shall be taken up by Northern as well as North Central Railway.

4.       Besides running average 250 goods trains on daily basis to ensure supply of essential items in every part of the country, Railway has also started running timetabled parcel trains for which notification are being issued from time to time. Very strict security arrangement shall be put in place to avoid any unauthorized passenger travel by these parcel trains from originating as well as enroute stations.
