NR restores Ravi bridge near Jammu

Northern Railway (NR) has restored Bridge No. 17, over the Ravi river between Kathua (Jammu & Kashmir) and Madhopur (Punjab) section in Jammu Division.

The bridge had sustained extensive damage during the severe floods in 2025. Initially, it was estimated that restoration of the washed-out bridge, having a non-standard girder design with 45-meter span girders, could take nearly two years.

However, through innovative engineering solutions, meticulous planning, and continuous efforts by the dedicated team of Railway engineers, the restoration work has been completed in approximately eight months.

Rajesh Kumar Pandey, General Manager Northern Railway said “With the restoration of Bridge No. 17, all five major railway bridges damaged during the unprecedented floods in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have now been fully restored.” The restoration of this vital bridge will improve operational efficiency and punctuality of trains in Jammu Division as well as NR.
