SER achieves 100 % route electrification

South Eastern Railway became the country’s second railway zone after West Central Railway to fully electrify its railway network last week. This was achieved after route electrification (RE) works of the entire Rupsa-Bangriposi section of Kharagpur Division was completed February 9,2022.

Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Eastern Circle S Mitra inspected the Bhanjpur – Bangriposi Section on February 9, 2022 along with Ishaq Khan, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, SER, M Pradhan, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur along with other officers nd a team of officers from SER Headquarters and Division.

Rupsa–Bangriposi (89 km) RE project was sanctioned in the year 2018-19 at a cost of Rs 94.89 crore. The RE works of Rupsa-Bhanjpur Section (55 km) was completed on 30.03.2021. The electrification work of the remaining 34- km portion – Bhanjpur – Bangriposi was completed on February 9.
