Food Quality: SER Collects 27.18 Lakh in Fines

 

SER’s Catering Department has been conducting regular and surprise inspections throughout the year. In 2019, (January to October) Rs.27,18,000/- was realised as fine from the vendors.

In 2018 (January to October) Rs.5,30,000/- was collected as fine for the same period of the year 2019

Apart from inspections, the following measures have also been taken by the Indian Railways to improve the services:

1.     Kitchen Units have been upgraded and CCTVs have been installed in Kitchen Units for centralised monitoring of the kitchen activities.

2.     Certification of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been made mandatory to ensure compliance of food safety norms.  

3.     Third Party Audit is conducted to examine the hygiene and cleanliness in pantry cars and kitchen units

4.     Introduction of Hand Sanitisers in Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto Trains

5.     Monitoring and supervision of catering service through operation of centralised Catering Service Monitoring Cell (CSMC) Toll free Number 1800-111-321, Rail Madad, Twitter handle, CPGRAMS, e-mail and SMS based complaints redressal.
