Use induction, microwave modes of cooking, IRCTC tells its licensees

To ensure uninterrupted supply of food items at its licensed outlets- Food Plazas, Refreshment Rooms and Jan Ahaar outlets- at railway stations, IRCTC West Zone has directed all its licensees to switch over to alternate cooking modes such as microwave ovens and induction stoves.

IRCTC’s directive is based on a potential threat of cooking gas (LPG) shortage due to international conflict in West Asia. These directions were given in a circular dated March 10, 2026 to all its licensees.

IRCTC further directed its licensees to stock up sufficient inventory of Ready To Eat items to meet passenger demand. This is in addition to the already existing inventory PAD items [PAD in IRCTC’s parlance means proprietary article depot items that is, branded items such as biscuits, chips soft drinks, juices et al].

Licensees, who discontinue using an LPG cylinder have been asked to report to IRCTC’s West Zone control room immediately.
