Vasco-Shalimar Parcel Express Train Carries 105.88 Tonnes Of Goods

Railways are running Goods trains and Parcel Express Trains to ensure supply of essential commodities across the country during lockdown. Railway is committed to ensure the supply of essential commodities like food, medicines etc.  to meet the requirements of citizens.  
SWR has run T.No.00641 Vasco Da Gama- Shalimar Parcel Express special via Hubballi, Gadag, Koppal, Hosapete, Ballari, Guntakal and Vijayawada  on 07.05.2020. It carried a total 105.88 tonnes of commodities loaded from Hubballi Division. At Vasco Da Gama, 99.62 tonnes of Personal Hygiene products such as toothpastes, sanitary napkins etc. were loaded.  Enroute, the Parcel Express train also transported 3.1 tonnes of medicines from Hubballi, 0.26  tonnes of iced fish from Gadag, 0.9 tonnes of iced fish from Koppal, and 2 tonnes of iced/dry fish from Hosapete.  Loading is also expected at enroute stations over other railway zones for this train.  This is the fourth Parcel Express train that is being run from Vasco Da Gama.  Earlier,  Parcel Express trains were run from Vasco Da Gama to Diwana, Howrah, Shalimar and have received good response from the traders, customers.
The advantage of these Parcel Express trains is that there is no minimum limit of load or goods to be carried.  Small consignments can also be transported.  These Parcel Express are useful for transportation of essential commodities like food items, medicines, Perishables etc.  As these parcel express run with scheduled time table, the commodities will be delivered to destination in time.
