New Parcel Train Services to and from Southern India, Many Existing Services to Continue till 3rd May

PARCEL TRAINS BY SWR IN EXTENDED LOCKDOWN PERIOD DUE TO COVID-19 THREAT

The nationwide lockdown enforced since March 25 to avoid a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases, has prompted the railways to restart timetabled parcel cargo trains for transportation of essential commodities.  After the lockdown, time tabled Parcel Cargo trains have come to the rescue of the nation’s most trusted warhorses carrying food grain, dairy products, packed food, fruits,  vegetables, medicines and perishables in close coordination with State Governments.

With the extension of Lockdown announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Railways have also extended services of timetabled parcel trains till 25th May to ensure food and essential services reach to every nook and corner of the country.

On South Western Railway timetabled parcel express trains is being run to various destinations with bookings from point to point in order to ensure fast and convenient transportation of essential commodities and due to extension of  national lock down caused by COVID-19 threat.  En-route loading is also being permitted at scheduled stoppages to allow maximum usage of vacant spaces and distribution of commodities at intermediate stations.

During the lockdown period SWR has run 15 pairs timetable parcel trains to different parts of the country ensuring adequate amount of food materials, dairy products, medical equipment, fruits, vegetables fertilizers etc, which carried approx 700 Tonnes of Parcel.

In view of extension of Lockdown SWR  has now notified the operation of the following 3 timetable parcel train services for transport of essential commodities: –

1) Train No.00623/624 Bengaluru – Jaipur – Bengaluru from Bengaluru on 16.04.2020 & 23.04.2020 and from Jaipur on 18.04.2020 & 25.04.2020.

2) Train No.00625/626 Bengaluru – H. Nizamuddin – Bengaluru from Bengaluru on 17.04.2020 and from H. Nizamuddin on 20.04.2020.

3) Train No.00607/608 Yesvantpur – Patna – Gorakhpur – Patna from Yesvantpur on 19.04.2020 and from Gorakhpur on 22.04.2020.

Parcel train services already announced by SWR will continue to run from Yesvantpur/Bengaluru to Howrah, Guwahati  & Dimapur.

ONE MORE PARCEL EXPRESS SPECIAL TRAIN TO NIZAMUDDIN

In order to keep up the supply chain of essential commodities during national lock down period in view of COVID-19, South Western Railway is running timetabled parcel special trains on point to point basis to various destinations across the country.

 Essential commodities such as food grains, medicines, vegetables were transported in these parcel express trains that were operated till now during lockdown period.

Considering the huge response received earlier, South Western Railway has decided to run following Parcel Express Special Train Between KSR Bengaluru & H. Nizamuddin via Mysuru and Hassan: –

4. Train Nos.00625 / 00626 KSR Bengaluru – H. Nizamuddin – KSR Bengaluru Parcel Express Special (Via Mysuru & Hassan): –

 Train Nos.00625 KSR Bengaluru – H. Nizamuddin weekly Parcel Express Special departs from KSR Bengaluru at 16.45 hrs on 17.04.2020 to reach H. Nizamuddin at 17.45 hrs on 19.04.2020.

In the return direction, Train No.00626 H. Nizamuddin – KSR Bengaluru weekly Parcel Special departs from H. Nizamuddin at 09.00 hrs on 20.04.2020 to reach KSR Bengaluru at 10.30 hrs on Tuesday.

The trains will have commercial stoppages at Mysuru, Hassan, Arsikere, Kadur, Birur, Davanagere, Hrihar, Ranibennur, Byadagi, Haveri, Hubballi, Belagavi, Miraj, Satara, Pune, Manmad, Bhusaval, Khandwa, Itarsi, Bhopal, Bina, Jhansi, Mathura and Palwal. Parcels can be loaded at these stations.

The trains will have a composition of 5 parcel vans and 2 sitting-cum-luggage vans.

Unlike regular parcel / goods trains, these timetabled parcel special trains

  • Have no minimum limit of load or goods to be carried.
  • All commodities without distinction of essential or non-essential can be booked
  • Booking shall be on point to point basis but en-route loading /unloading is permitted

The industrial houses companies, interest groups, NGOs and individuals are requested to avail this facility by registering their demand first and join Indian Railways with India’s fight against COVID-19.
