NFR Takes Several Initiatives to Make Transportation of Goods More Attractive

NFR has been focusing to boost freight train movement within its jurisdiction to ensure that more and more commodities are transported giving the much-needed fillip to the economy. Various initiatives have been taken by NFR in this direction. Some of the measures are as follows:

1 The average speed of goods train has been increased to almost 50 kmph (more than 75% increases in comparison to last year).

2 This has resulted into better turnaround time for goods train leading to better utilization of assets.

3 Facilities and amenities available at about 15 goods sheds have been drastically improved to facilitate hassle free loading and un-loading of commodities.

4 The existing policies for opening new private freight terminals and sidings have been further simplified.

5 Freight rakes are being made available on demand to transporters.

6 Business Development Units (BDUs) set up in all Divisions and Head Quarter are inconstant touch with traders and transporters within their jurisdiction.

7 Time tabled Parcel trains are being run from places like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata,Secunderabad etc ensuring timely delivery of booked parcel items.

8 Kishan Setu Parcel trains are being run between Guwahati-Dibrugarh, Guwahati-Agartala, Howrah-Dibrugarh

9 The busy season charge of 15% has been withdrawn to provide tariff rationalizationbenefit to various sectors.

10.Surcharge of 5% on two-point mini rake has also been withdrawn.

11.Stabling charges for automobile container waived till 31.10.2020.

Various non-tariff measures have also been taken by NFR. Some of them are as follows:

1 Distance restriction for mini and two point rakes have been eased out.

2 Two point unloading allowed for automobile traffic.

3 All private sidings opened for loading and unloading of parcel traffic. These initiatives offer an unprecedented opportunity to the traders to transport their goods easily in a more economic way than ever before.
