Shri Suresh C Angadi, Hon’ble Minster of State of Railways flagged off the inaugural special Train No.06542 Vijayapura – Yesvantpur Express today (22.10.2019) from Vijayapura Railway Station. On this occasion, Shri Ramesh Chandappa Jigajinagi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Vijayapura and former Union Minister; Shri P.C. Gaddigoudar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Bagalkot; Shri Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Vijayapura; Shri Veeranna Charantimath, Member of Legislative Assembly, Bagalkot; Shri Shivanand Patil, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Basavana Bagewadi; Shri Somanagowda B. Patil, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Devara Hipparagi; Shri Hanumant Nirani, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Council; Shri Sunil Gouda B. Patil, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Council, Shri Shivayogappa Nedalagi, Hon’ble President of Zilla Panchayat, Vijayapura; Shri Y.S. Patil, Deputy Commissioner, Vijayapura; Shri Govind Reddy, Chief Executive Officer/Vijayapura Zilla Panchayat, and large number of people were present.
Welcoming the dignitaries on this occasion Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR said that running of a direct train from Vijayapura to Bengaluru/Yesvantpur was one of the requests from the elected representative of Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Gadag, Koppal and surrounding areas.
During the inspection of the section by Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways with Railway Officials, need for a direct train was presented by Shri Ramesh C. Jigajinagi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Vijayapura, Shri P.C. Gaddigoudar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Bagalkot and other representatives of the region. This train will connect major parts of eleven districts of Karnataka.
As large population of residents from this region are working, studying at Bengaluru, this train will be extremely beneficial to them. It will boost trade and commerce of this region as it connects to almost all parts of Karnataka. This train will also enhance tourism as this provides connectivity to a host of places of tourist interest and heritage sites such as Hosapete (Hampi), Badami & Vijayapura etc.
Shri Basanagouda R. Patil in his speech requested to increase quota for Vijayapura in trains in this section. He also requested the Minister to introduce new train from Tirupati to Vijayapura.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri P.C. Gaddigoudar, Hon’ble MP/Bagalkot said that Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts have historical importance and this train will provide better connectivity to these districts. He said that it’s understood that Almatti-Chitradurga Survey completed and report is being submitted to Railway Board shortly.
Shri Veeranna Charantimath, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Bagalkot in his speech requested Shri Suresh Angadi for early completion of Kudachi-Bagalkot new line and Gadag-Hotgi Double line.
Shri Ramesh Jigajinagi, Hon’ble MP/Vijayapura said that record number of Railway works are going on, in tune with needs of public. He told that the timings of new train shall be revised. He also said to expedite the work of Road Over Bridge near Vajra Hanuman temple. He said that escalators should be installed at Vijayapura Railway station.
Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways said that the new train is a result of representation by Shri Ramesh Jigajinagi, Hon’ble MP,Vijayapura and Shri P.C. Gaddigoudar, Hon’ble MP, Bagalkot. He told that this train is planned for inauguration before Diwali as a festival gift to people of Vijayapura district.
He appreciated the visible improvement in level of cleanliness at station premises over Indian Railways. He said that in coming days Vijayapura will be developed on par with Bengaluru. After flagging off the train, Shri Suresh Angadi interacted with press in a press meet.
