Central Railway (CR) will construct a rail-over a rail (ROR) flyover at Bhusaval division’s Chalisgaon Jn. In a statement on Wednesday, CR said that a 10.75-km long RoR flyover had been sanctioned by Railway Board at an estimated cost of ₹263.86 crore.
The project will address operational challenges related to trains from Dhule side towards Manmad side which requires multiple crossovers over three tracks thereby holding up traffic.
With the additional 4th line also being constructed, these crossovers are only expected to increase further in the absence of a flyover resulting in further detention of trains at Chalisgaon Jn. The sanctioned flyover will eliminate such conflicts by separating train movements, ensuring smoother and more efficient operations.

The current line capacity of this section is 45.4 per cent, which is expected to increase to 107.96 per cent by 2029–30 with multiple projects nearing completion in the near future.
The project will ease pressure on the stretch between Chalisgaon Jn and Jamdha, where long block sections have been causing delays to both branch line and Bhusaval-Manmad traffic.
Reorganizing these sections and smoothening the flow of trains will reduce detention at Chalisgaon Jn and improve punctuality. About 15 minutes will be saved in the Up direction and about 20 minutes in the Down direction benefitting train operations.
Project details
The total track length of project is 11.01 km. The survey has been carried out by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL). The project also includes construction of two station buildings, one major bridge, 16 minor bridges, one Road Under Bridge (RUB), and five Limited Height Subways (LHS).
The alignment is designed with a ruling gradient of 1:200 and will support a maximum permissible speed of 130 kmph. The project is expected to generate additional freight traffic of approximately 0.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
