
Indian Railways (IR) has approved the upgradation of the electric traction system from 1×25 kV to 2×25 kV on the 73 route km Savalyapuram-Guntur section of South Coast Railway at a total cost of ₹142 crore.
Covering 146 track kms, the project will strengthen electric traction infrastructure and enhance its capacity to support growing railway operations.The upgradation forms part of HUN Route 8, covering the Vasco-Gadag-Guntakal-Nandyal-Savalyapuram-Guntur-Vijayawada route.
The upgradation will also reinforce the capacity and reliability of this important HUN route, supporting smoother train operations and strengthening the overall rail network in the region.
