NFR’s net plan outlay in Union Budget at Rs 5966.87 crore

NFR has received an allocation of Rs 5966.87 crore in the FY22 Union Budget. Of this, Rs. 4180 crore has been allocated for new lines and Rs 150 crore for doubling works.

 For Safety and Capacity Enhancement Works, Rs 1470 crore has been allocated while Rs166 crore has been earmarked for Passenger Amenities.

IR is focussing on international connectivity particularly with Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar as per the Government’s  Act East Policy aimed at economic development of entire NE Region.

Major allocation for FY22 is as follows:-

New Lines

Sivok – Rangpo project (44.39 kms)- Rs 1100 crore

 Tetelia – Byrnihat (21.5 km)- Rs 100 crore 

Agartala–Akhaura (Bangladesh 13 km)-Rs 300 crore

Jiribam – Imphal (97.9 km)- Rs 1000 crore Bhairabi – Sairang (51.38 km) -Rs 1000 crore

Dimapur – Zubza (Kohima 88 km)- Rs 800 crore.

Doubling

New Bongaigaon-Agthori(via Rangiya)- Rs 650 crore which includes Rs 500 crore via EBR (IF))

New Bongaigaon – Goalpara – Guwahati section-Rs 310 crore via EBR (IF) 

Digaru – Hojai – Rs. 100 crore via EBR (IF)

New Mainaguri – Gumanihat -Rs 110 crorevia EBR (IF)

Electrification

Electrification upto Guwahati is expected to be completed by March 2021.

Works in the balance portion of NFR is targeted for completion by March 2024.
